This was written by John Madara and David White, co-composers of Danny and the Juniors’ 1958 No 1, At the Hop. Lesley Gore was 17 when she recorded it in 1963, and it was her fourth and last US top ten hit, reaching No 2. It didn’t make the British charts.
Dusty Springfield covered it on her 1964 album A Girl Called Dusty.
The Australian singer Grace released a version in 2015 which was produced by Quincy Jones, the producer of the Lesley Gore original. It reached No 4 in Britain.
