To my mind Andy Fairweather Low had one of the best voices in 60s pop. This song was written in Italian by Lucio Battisti in 1968 as Il paradiso della vita (‘The paradise of the life’), and translated into English by Jack Fishman. It was Amen Corner’s debut single when they joined Immediate Records from Deram, and reached No 1 in the UK in February 1969.
