A tribute to Tony Capstick

Following the tracks by him that I posted earlier this week, here’s a programme about the great Yorkshire singer and comedian after his untimely death in 2003. I well remember his compering the 1976 July Wakes festival at Park Hall, Charnock Richard. Among the great jokes he told was this:

There were a woman lived round t’corner from us and she had 14 children before her husband died. She remarried and had another 11. Then she died. At her funeral, as they lowered the coffin into the ground, the widower shook his head and said: ‘Oh well, they’re together at last.’ ‘What, her and her first husband?’ I asked. ‘No, her legs.’
