I think this is a sensational song. I spent a while trying to decide whether to headline the Everly Brothers or the Walker Brothers but I failed.

It was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and first released by the Everlys in 1963 as the B-side of The Girl Sang the Blues, which did nothing in the States, so I presume they started plugging Love Her. It crawled to No 117. What a waste! The Girl Sang the Blues, also by Mann and Weil, got to No 35 in the UK. Here it is:

It was given a Spector-style treatment in 1965 by the Walker Brothers. It was arranged by Spector associate Jack Nitzsche. It was their first hit, reaching No 20 in the UK. I don’t think it was released in America.
