Fab. I hadn’t heard of a Student Prince guitar, but I looked it up and it turns out to be a Vox; a stylish maker of guitars and amps from the 60s.
1960s guitars were often works of art, particularly those from Vox, Gretsch, Rickenbacker and Burns.
I watched one of those “Made In Britain” TV progs the other day – it featured a British guitar maker called Atkins. They make acoustic guitars that replicate old patterns and use old materials. The founder of the company is a fan of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Crosby Stills and Nash; all of that US late-60s acoustic stuff. He said that those artists used guitars that were made before WW2 and that these guitars had a much different sound than anything more modern. Enthusiasts now pay five-figure sums for original examples of these guitars. The Atkins replicas cost £2,000 or more.
