This recording was made in 1963 as a demo for the Shirelles but was considered so good that it was released, and it reached the top of the US chart. It made No 50 in Britain. It was covered by Martha and the Vandellas and the Chiffons, but neither version is up to the original. The Shirelles never did record it.
