Eddie Cochran: C’mon Everybody

Square

Irresistible US rocker from 1958. The poor lad was dead at 21, victim of a crash while travelling in a taxi in Chippenham, Wiltshire, during a UK tour in 1960.

  1. He was great, wasn’t he.
You can imagine an alternative rock world where Cochran and Buddy Holly didn’t die, Little Richard didn’t choose religion and Chuck Berry didn’t go to jail. They wrote a lot of their own material, so could have really developed Rock and Roll. Instead it mostly descended into formulaic pop until The Beatles arrived.
