This was recorded in 1973, which is more or less the end of pop music for me, but it sounds much earlier with its Spector-like backing. It got to No 5 in Britain.
It was written by Don Robertson and first released in 1956 by the Chordettes, who went to No 5 in the US.
Another good version was by Dion as the title track of an album in 1977. It was produced by Phil Spector, but it doesn’t sound nearly as Spector-ish as the Edmunds version.
