Lou Johnson: (There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me

Square

This was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and released by Lou Johnson in 1964. It reached No 49 in the US.

It was covered (poorly) by British singer Sandie Shaw, who got to No 1 in Britain in late 1964. Her USP was performing in bare feet, bunions on display.

The demo was recorded in 1963 by Dionne Warwick and it was released in 1968, reaching No 65 in the US. It’s better than Shaw but nothing like as good as the Johnson version.
