Buddy Holly: Raining in My Heart

Square

This brilliant song, written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, was recorded on October 21, 1958, and released as the B-side of It Doesn’t Matter Anymore shortly after Buddy Holly’s death in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. It reached No 88 in America on its own account while the A-side got to No 13.

For the record (no pun intended – all right, yes it is) here is It Doesn’t Matter Anymore, which was written by Paul Anka. This topped the chart in Britain, the first posthumous number 1 in the UK.
