This was recorded for Canned Heat’s second album, Boogie with Canned Heat, released in January 1968. After favourable reaction Liberty Records issued the song as a single in April 1968, cutting it from the original length of 4:55 to 3:33 to make it more suitable for pop radio stations. It became Canned Heat’s first single to appear in the record charts, reaching No 16 in American and No 8 in Britain.
