Buddy Holly: It Doesn’t Matter Anymore

This was written by a 17-year-old Paul Anka for Buddy Holly and it was recorded at his last studio session, in October 1958. It was released on January 5, 1959, as a double A-side with Raining in My Heart, from the same session. Holly was killed in a plane crash a month later, on February 3, and soon after the record reached No 13 in the US (Holly’s last top 20 hit in the States) and No 1 in Britain. Anka donated his royalties from the song to Holly’s widow, Maria Elena.
