That was great. I’m an on/off fan of Van the Man. I love almost everything by his group Them, but his solo stuff only throws up the odd item of interest for me.
One of the best things I’ve ever seen by him is his performance in the film “The Last Waltz”. Van has a reputation for being petulant, but his performance in that film was most upbeat, lightening the mood amongst all the heavy stuff by Neil Young and The Band etc.
Marc Ellen in his great book “Rock Stars Stole My Life” has a few amusing things to say about VM.
