Written by Bill Trader, the full title is (Now and Then There’s) A Fool Such as I, and it was published in 1952.
Here’s a live performance the same year by Dean Martin.
In 1953 Hank Snow took it to No 4 on the US country music chart.
Elvis recorded it on June 10, 1958, at RCA’s Studio B, Nashville, while he was on leave from the US Army. It was originally the B-side of I Need Your Love Tonight but reached No 2 in the States as an A-side, and topped the chart in the UK.

That’s a great song, in all 3 versions. Up to now I only knew the Elvis one. The other 2 versions are actually better!
The tune is similar to “You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful, and You’re Mine”,
