Bobby Vee: Rubber Ball

This was co-written by Gene Pitney, under his mother’s maiden name of A (Anna) Orlowski, and Aaron Schroeder, while they were working at the Brill Building in New York. Bobby Vee released it as his fifth single in late 1960, taking it to No 6 in America in early 1961 and No 4 in Britain, where it was his breakthrough record.

The B-side was a cover of Buddy Holly’s 1957 Everyday (the B-side of Peggy Sue). It wasn’t much good.
