Neil Sedaka: Oh! Carol

Square

Sedaka wrote this with Howard Greenfield in 1958. It was a reference to his high school girlfriend Carol Klein, who by that time had married Gerry Goffin and was known as Carole King. The couple were among the most successful pop writers of the era.

In response Goffin wrote new words to the tune and called it Oh, Neil. King released it the same year but it was a flop.
