Francoise Hardy: All Over the World

Square

This first appeared in French in 1964 as Dans le monde entire, with words and music by Francoise Hardy, then aged 20. It featured on her album Mon amie la rose. The lyrics were translated into English by Julian More under the title All Over the World and it was released as a single in Britain on March 12, 1965. It reached No 16.

This is the French version. It sounds to me as if the English one used the original backing track.

  1. I’ve never heard that before; it’s a fabulous song. I prefer the English version and its video. They wouldn’t have called it a “video” back then though.
