This (to me) underrated song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It was released in 1964 by The Tokens, who took it to No 43 in the US.
In Britain it was covered by The Rockin’ Berries at the same time. Their version reached No 3 over here.
I am surprised that no one else had a go at it.
