Conway Twitty/Jerry Lee Lewis: Mona Lisa

Square

Written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the 1950 film Captain Carey, USA, thissong won the Oscar for Best Original Song. It was a No 1 hit for Nat King Cole in America the same year.

It’s been recorded since by many performers. Conway Twitty (real name Harold Lloyd Jenkins) released it as a single in 1959, reaching No 5 in Britain and No 29 in the US.

I can’t discover when Twitty and Jerry Lee Lewis did this brilliant live performance.

As far as I can tell Lewis never recorded the song but he did it live in London in 1983, and to me this the best of the lot.
