The Ronettes: So Young

Square

The death of Ronnie Spector (née Bennett) last week at 78 prompts a short season of her tracks.

This was written as I’m So Young by William ‘Prez’ Tyus and first released by The Students in 1958. Re-released in 1961, it reached No 28 in America.

This version was arranged by Phil Spector’s collaborator Jack Nitzsche. It appeared in 1964 on the Ronettes’ only studio album Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica and as a single under the name Veronica, but I cannot discover if it was released first as a single or on the album.
