This was first released in 1944 as an instrumental by the Three Suns (Morty Nevins, Al Nevins, and Artie Dunn), who wrote the music.
The words were added by their manager Buck Ram. I am not sure when the first words and music version was released. In 1958 the Platters took it to No 1 in America and No 3 in Britain.
