This was written by Brian Wilson and Tony Asher for the group’s 1966 album Pet Sounds.
It was issued as the B-side of Wouldn’t It Be Nice (also from Pet Sounds) in July 1966 and on its own account peaked at number 39 in the US. In Britain it was the A-side and reached No 2. In 2021, it was ranked number 11 in Rolling Stone‘s list of the greatest songs in history.
