FoM were a West Coast blues and psychedelia band most famous for this song which featured on the soundtrack of Easy Rider. Members included Richie Hayward, future drummer of Little Feat, and guitarist Elliot Ingber, known to Beefheart fans as Winged Eel Fingerling.
The Feat performed a brief version at the beginning of their live album Waiting For Columbus.
